Carbon Reduction Plan 2023

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Keystream have committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 and have begun the journey in offsetting our carbon emissions.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline Year: 2022
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:
Keystream Group have based these emissions from January 2022 – December 2022.

Keystream emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Baseline Year Emissions:
Emissions: TOTAL (Tco2e):
Scope 1: 132.5
Scope 2: 4.32
Scope 3: 189.8
Total Emissions: 326.62

Emissions Reduction Targets:

In order to continue Keystream’s progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

  • Reduce landfill waste by 10%.
  • Ensure 100% of all energy contracts are from verified, renewable sources.
  • Reduce 1 minute or less phone calls by 40%.

Carbon Reduction Projects:

Completed Carbon Reduction Projects:

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline.

Encourage sustainable commuting:

Keystream participates in the Government’s Cycle to work scheme that subsidises the purchase of new bikes for work.

Energy Efficient Offices:

All printers are defaulted to sleep mode when not in use.

Introducing Environmental Champions:

Environmental Champions were appointed across the business during 2021. These Champions help Keystream to reach set targets and implement positive behaviours towards the environment. All Environmental Champions are part of a network that is coordinated and supported by the Directors.

Reforestation:

Keystream are proud to plant a tree for every placement and to date have planted over 2000 trees across the world via https://ecologi.com/keystreamgroup

Reduced internal email traffic:

The average carbon footprint of an email is 0.3g CO2e. If that email takes 10 minutes to write and 3 seconds to read it will generate 17g CO2e and if it’s got an image or an attachment it generates 50g CO2e. Keystream have opted to utilise Microsoft Teams for internal communication, this has reduced internal email traffic by 85%.

Lights on sensors:

Keystream Head Office has installed lights with sensors to aid in reducing wasteful energy consumption.

Paperless Policy:

Keystream has been a paperless office for a number of years. This has contributed to a more sustainable and efficient work environment.

Future Initiatives:

In the future Keystream hope to implement further measures, such as, continuing to review optimal office use in the age of flexible and remote working. This is to ensure that energy consumption within the business is not excessive compared to the number of staff working in the location.

Keystream will be reviewing current business travel and reducing unnecessary business travel to ensure that where meetings are completed face to face, all other options have been exhausted. All travel within the United Kingdom will not be completed by air.

Keystream will ensure that all computer equipment is turned off and shut down at the end of the working day. Random checks will be completed at the close of business to ensure that computers are turned off.

Keystream will be providing branded water bottles to negate the use of plastic bottles in the office. We will also be installing a plumbed in water filter.

Clean air plants will be introduced into Keystream Head Office. These plants have the ability to naturally improve indoor air quality by removing pollutants and toxins from the air.

Keystream will implement a minimum of 3 extra recycling waste bins. These will conserve resources, promote a more sustainable future and reduce landfill waste.

All new and existing colleagues will be required to undertake mandatory environmental awareness training.
